this post reminded me of a conversation i had with my grandfather about playing football for glen ridge HS in NJ during late 1930s. My grandfather was born in south america so was familiar with soccer and he thought two rules made fball and soccer more similar in 1930s.
1. if subbed a player couldn’t return till next quarter so all players went both ways
2. signaling in plays was prohibited so strategy / coaching was more about giving players a framework during week of practice so they could decide what to do during game
anyways, i doubt anyone cares so mostly shoutout to my gpa as he was way cooler than me. keep up the great work.
