Great article! I would argue that some other major sports are ALSO games of tradeoffs. In Bball, we saw the Bucks decide to take away 3s and give the suns midrange looks in the finals to great effect. In American football, we see defenses have to decide if they want to bring more defensive backs in the game or play man or zone based on which elements of the offense they want to minimize. I think this serves as a nice point of comparison between these sports, rather than contrast. To your point, there is just a lot more stuff to trade off in soccer!
