You've written before about substitutes and their xG vs that of starting players. How do you see the increase in allotted substitutions changing this? On one hand, the quality of the average sub presumably will go down (dilution of the available pool). On the other, perhaps teams will figure out how to "optimize" substitute timing (i.e. teams will bring subs on earlier, and perhaps sub outside of the traditional attack/midfield spots). Can we look at the post-pandemic numbers for a preview?

Side-note: If I'm an outside/wing-back, I think the 55th minute (or so) is the worst time to see a fresh sub. You've just had a 15 minute break for halftime, and then the person you're facing (knowing they have 10 mins left) goes all out at you. Now you're feeling leggy. Then Adama Traore comes on and has about 40 minutes to end you. After about 30 mins you're completely gassed and he's fully in rhythm. Not ideal!

Warmly,

Luke Shaw

Which side will win the Champsionship playoff berth, and how many of the 3 can survive next year? Additional question, will Leeds suffer more than other promoted clubs because they will not be able to capitalize on the huge attendance numbers they would be able to put up in typical season and don't have parachute payments from beforehand or any prior recent seasons in the Premier League to build off of?
